NZD/USD advances, holds above 0.77 handle

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The NZD/USD edged higher in the mid-Asian session, reversing three consecutive days of losses as US dollar retreated against major currencies from multi-year highs.

The NZD/USD pair now trades higher by 0.20% at 0.7726, after posting day’s high levels of 0.7734 hit some time ago. The New Zealand dollar regained strength versus the greenback as the dollar index, which measures the greenback’s strength against major six currencies, eased from fresh 5-year highs of 90.41 levels reached in the previous session and now trades at 89.92 levels, down -0.10% on the day. The kiwi remains supported against the US dollar on upbeat New Zealand’s Q3 GDP and trade balance data released recently.

NZD/USD Technical Levels

The pair has an immediate resistance at 0.7759 (Dec 23 High) levels, above which gains could be extended to 0.7804 (Dec 17 High) levels. On the flip side, support is seen at 0.7695 (Dec 5 Low) levels, below which it could extend losses to 0.7677 (Dec 7 Low) levels.

US indices saw a choppy, mixed session – TechnicalTrader

Harry Boxer of The Technical Trader explains that the US stock indices had a very tough and a sloppy session as indices saw a mixed close with S&P 500 making a new all-time high at 2086.73 before closing slight lower, and Nasdaq 100 down 14.37 at 4297.30, only 5 points of its lows.
