Toshiro Muto leading candidate for BOJ governor post, Reuters says

According to a Reuters article published earlier this morning by Leika Kihara and Yoshifumi Takemoto, Toshiro Muto is the favorite candidate to be appointed next Japan's central bank governor. The Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has told reporters earlier today that he aims at picking a nominee this week if possible, Reuters said.

If that is the case, the first reaction from the market would be Yen positive, consensus suggests, as Mr. Muto, who was BOJ deputy governor under the Koizumi-led LDP government, while defending a 2% inflation target, he is not particularly prevalent to implement on foreign policies, having been slightly negative on foreign bond purchases.
