Analysts at Rabobank noted the key events coming up.

"Today Asian markets - where Chinese New Year is now over - will get to vote on what it thought of the Yellen testimony: I don’t expect a standing ovation despite the weaker USD.

We also hear from two BoE governors (Cunliffe and Bailey) ahead of Yellen’s second testimony, where the Senate has to pretend it didn’t hear everything that was said yesterday. In a similar vein in the overnight European session (i.e., Friday local time) we also have RBA Governor Stevens testifying to parliament. (“Neither a borrower nor a lender be.”)

Data-wise there is again little to focus on (though we do get Dutch Q4 GDP)."

SWFs behind Japan sell-off, Nomura CEO says

Nomura's CEO Koji Nagai thinks, in an article via the FT, that the collapse in Nikkei 225 shares over recent weeks can be largely attributed to oil-related Middle Eastern SWFs (sovereign wealth funds) selling stocks as crude prices continue to slide.
