Markets: Key events in the week ahead – Deutsche Bank

Deutsche Bank analysts suggest that it’s a very quiet day for data today with only the April Bank of France industry sentiment reading due.

“The Fed’s Clarida and Rosengren are due to make remarks at a Fed Listens event. US Secretary of State Pompeo meets with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and President Trump meets Hungarian PM Orban in Washington. EU foreign ministers are also due to gather in Brussels.”

“Tuesday: The data highlights include the final April CPI revisions in Germany, March employment data in the UK, March industrial production for the Euro Area and May ZEW survey in Germany. In the US the April NFIB survey reading and April import price index data are due. The Fed’s Williams and George are due to speak and the OPEC monthly oil report will also be released.”

“Wednesday: The early focus will be on China where the April retail sales, fixed asset investment and industrial production data is due out. In Europe we’ll get the preliminary Q1 GDP reading for the Euro Area and Germany, and final April CPI revisions for France. In the US the highlights include April retail sales, April industrial production and May empire manufacturing. The May NAHB housing market index and March business inventories data are also due. The Fed’s Quarles and Barkin are also scheduled to speak while the ECB’s Lane is due to speak.”

‘Thursday: Overnight April PPI data in Japan and April new home prices data in China is scheduled to be released. In Europe we’ll get Q1 employment data in France and the March trade balance for the Euro Area while in the US April housing starts and building permits data is due, along with the May Philly Fed PMI and latest weekly initial jobless claims. The Fed’s Kashkari, ECB’s Praet, Weidmann and Coeure, and BoE’s Haskel are all due to speak. Comments from the Riksbank’s Ingves and Poloz are also due. Elsewhere, former US Treasury Secretary Rubin and former Fed Chair Bernanke participate in a forum on preparing for the next recession.”

“Friday: The data highlights include final April CPI revisions for the Euro Area in the morning, and the April leading index and preliminary May University of Michigan consumer sentiment survey. The Fed’s Williams and Clarida will also speak, along with the BoE’s Brazier. EU finance ministers also meet in Brussels to discuss plans for the Euro Area budget.”
