WHO's Tedros: Expecting to reach a total of 10 million cases within next week

World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus noted said on Wednesday that he expects the total number of confirmed coronavirus infections globally to reach 10 million within the next week. Currently, there are 9.3 million COVID-19 cases.

"Many countries experiencing difficulty getting oxygen concentrators," Tedros added.

Market reaction

Flight-to-safety continues to dominate financial markets on Wednesday. As of writing, the S&P 500 was down 3% on the day at 3,035 points, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 3.15% and the Nasdaq Composite was losing 2.1%.
